9/9/07 07:15 pmOnce again, I find myself desiring bigger MP3 player. One that'll fit multiple albums on. My little Creative MuVo is faithful and sturdy and has lived through several other players, but it's only 512MB.
In my search (primarily Amazon centred, I must admit), I keep coming across Pocket Techie. Does anyone know anything about this make? Because google's just turning up a lot of stuff that makes me think it's really really new.
Otherwise, I'm eyeing up a Sony drag-and-drop player (since I don't want to have to deal with SonicStage), a few Philips players and a handful of Samsungs. There's no point replacing the MuVo with another Creative (it's the only Creative that hasn't died on me), iPods are out of my price tag and I'm a bit lairy of brands I don't know. Hence the curiousity about Pocket Techie.

Date: 9/9/07 07:08 pm (UTC)The main problem with Sonicstage is not actually that its a piece of shit (which it undoubtedly is), because it can be made to work properly with care, but to get the best out of Walkmen you need to use ATRAC which pretty much shackles you (or at least your music collection) to Sony from then on. In my case I find it worth it, but others may not be so forgiving.
I'm curious about the new drag-and-drop players, but also slightly dubious; I wonder exactly how its going to work.
As a side note, I have a 2GB Sony player with a radio going spare (now I've found a 4GB version). I'd be more than willing to part with that, but it would presents the problem of Sonicstage already outlined...

Date: 9/9/07 07:24 pm (UTC)I think I'm about the only person left these days who actually puts up with Sony. I reckon when 200GB players are small enough and cheap I'll rip all my CDs to Wav or something good and lossless, then wave goodbye to walkmens.
