[Poll #952988]

I've had this account paid for about eight months now, and this is the first time I've got around to doing a poll. I keep having ideas for polls, but finally the need to prevaricate has persuaded me to make one.

post. There's more like that on there too.

I caaaaan't decide! Definitely don't want household robots with actual Artificial Intelligence is that means enslaved conscious beings. Space travel and contact with aliens, though: both!

That was why I put household in inverted commas. So they might have been household slaves, but not any more. Or they could just be robots that hang out in your house. Or whatever interpretation people chose, really.

I was mean with space travel and aliens, but I do want to see which people really prefer. Would you rather have a space ship, but never encounter any aliens, or hang out with aliens but not leave earth?

I wouldn't ever really have wanted them to have been household robots... and why would they be hanging out in my house, but ho hum.

I still can't choose, as regards space travel and aliens. Which is why I didn't.

Oh! I thought household was in inverted commas because they were sexbots! Silly me!

I picked space travel because I keep thinking of how the others could be abused horribly and/or destroy the world. At least with space travel we could go out and find new worlds that we haven't broken.

I went for the robot one not to have slaves, but because I think it would be a wonderful thing if someone could write a "common sense" program for computers.

It's been around in fiction long enough to be a staple: brain-computer interfaces and uploading. I want to have backups.

That was a Good Question(TM),particularly for a needs-must poll.
