Something I remembered: a building firm is paying for our vilage bonfire night this year. See, there used to be this huge 3* hotel in our village (damn stupid place for one, really) which burnt down when one of hte waiters set fire to hte lagging during fight with his girlfriend. Just my luck - i was staying at my grandmother's that night, but it all sounded very exciting. Anyway, they're now building luxury flats on the site. They've knocked down a very old wall they were forbidden form knocking down, caused a road to subside and closed my main route to college for over six months. So everyone in the vilalge whined a lot 9we're good at that) so they've offered to pay for hte vllage bonfire night this year. Yay! See, generally, it's quite shite compared with most towns's guy fawke's ngihts, but for a village it's not bad. The money raised one year will pay for the next (so we're either going to have a bumber year this year, with building money and last year's funds, or a bumper years next year, with this year's and last year's funds). It lasts about half an hour, you can't see much because the bonfire is light about two hours preivously and fills the sky with low haning organce smoke, the pyrotechnics tend to not light or slam into trees, and it drizzles incessantly. Love it. Absolutely love it. Even hwen I don't live here any more I'm going to keep coming back. It's tradition, damnit!
