minervasoloeep. Adam, who dated my mother 30 years ago, shares my birthday and has a duaghter a year older than me who also shares my birthday, is here with his new gf. He's a nice guy, good looking (especially for his age - some guys just know how to grow old and look good), lives in France and randomly phones us last night to inform us he was dropping in. But I did one of my me things and made an embarrassed idiot out of myself. I have a lot of work to do today, and when mum suggested leaving the kitchen to sit in the other room, I figured I'd make my escape and get on with stuff. But no, they followed me instead of mum and made me feel like a complete twit stading in the middle of quite possibly the messiest room in the house and trying to explain that mum's in the front room, which is nice and clean. I just felt so rude, as it was obvious that I didn't really want to hang around and chat to them. I don't know them! Well, I've met Adam a few times, and this is the first time we've met his new gf. Still, I have a lot of work, and sitting in the front room drinking tea and nodding wasn't quite how I planned to spend today.
Of course, now I've finished the work, and still don't feel like joining them, so I'm hiding up here and hoping no one comes to speak to me and I look even ruder.
And of course hotmail isn't working, so emailing my work to me isn't happening much either.
Anyhow. Despite all that, still proud of myself and feeling very productive.

Personal statement now fits on a single page. Of course, it's 50 lines, and the max amount it's meant to be is 47, but compared with 70+ lines I think I'm doing well. It's supposed to be 80% about the course and 20% about me, while mines maybe 60/40, though a lot of the me stuff is 'look, i like writing!' so I figure that's okay. Oh, and I've finally picked the last two universities I'm going to apply to. The Times Uni guide is good for that, so my current list is Cambridge, Exeter, East Anglia, Bath, Sussex, Warwick. All in the top 25 too ^_^ Of course, that means I've got a much slimmer chance of getting into any of them, so if I've overreached myself I'm going to be buggered, basically. Isn't over-confidence fun?
Oh, Adam seems to be going. Ought to go say goodbye.
