Norton Antivirus opened itself to tell me my subscription runs out in may next year. Methinks they are taking advance warning a leetle too far there ^_^

Animatrix. Guh. Want! We got it out the video store, and wow. I particularly like the noirish ones. So very inspired. Suddenly starting writing random snippets of stuff, so it's been a creative evening, in a lying around chatting to the cats kind of way.

Animatrix - mostly mediocre, but three REALLY ace concepts - "The Second Renainasseioghqonoqa" <--spelling abandoned me today--> parts one and two is a genius and beautifully two-sided tale of the history of the thing (not to mention trippy as all fuck, I love the repeating patterns and will love them even more on acid, no doubt) and "Beyond" is in a gorgeous style which also makes me nearly pass out from the same quiet joy that American Beauty gives me. I have no idea what it is about "Beyond" that makes it so bloody amazing, but it really gets me.

the last one (Matriculation) is... odd. Fun to watch, in a not-even-the-beatles-videos-were-this-LSD-induced kinda way, but I'd given up trying to understand it after the first minute. I liked all the different styles (especially the detective story, randomly), but I wouldn't go out of my way to find other stuff like that.

There is actually a reason to the last one, and I worked out what it was, but I've forgotten it because I was fairly ... beached ... when I watched it.

The detective story was NEAT, I loved the style especially, it reminded me of Eddie Campbell's art in From Hell, but it would have been much better as a comic book. Beyond *still* strikes me as a perfect example of what short animation should be like.

That's the one where the girl is being tested, isn't it? I love the ending of that, with her in the lift. Slightly surprised at how many women outside the matrix seem to forget to put trousers/skirt/short etc on, and just wander around in a top and knickers. ^_^
I think the last one is designed to be watched having taken something. Watched in complete sobriety just leaves you thinking "I want whatever they took" ^_^

No, it's the anime-style one where the girl starts out looking for her cat, and time is kind of ... broken. It's beautiful.
