Norton Internet Security has turned off it's email protection again. In short, it's turned off pretty near everything, because it's an 'error'. Mum seems suddenly less paranoid about things being turned off, especially since I was talking to Shink hte other night, who reveal the next morning she had a worm. Scanned the computer immediately, it appeared virus free, and Norton is supposed to delete all worms on contact, but still. Worried.

This daft short story competition has a maximum word limit of 200 words. I've written, what, amybe fifteen short stories. Only three fit that word limit. And none are exactly my best. The one I'd love to send is about 1000 words too long, and would suffer terribly if I editted it down. Sigh. Plus, been reading Bill Bryson, which eaves me in non-fiction writing mood. And reading about Yellowstone park is such a sure-fire way of keeping me awake. Also makes me want to mve there. If that makes no sense to you, consider this: Yellowstone National Park is a volcano. The whole park. Last time it blew, the human race was reduced to mere thousands, and winter lasted about a decade. And it's 30,000 years overdue for it's next eruption. First learnt that on Horizon, relearnt it again last night. One side of the park is rose enough that the lake ended up in a bunch of fields nearby. It's going down again now (phew!), but still, activity of any sort is a very very very bad sign.

Got to reboot computer, in hope that Norton sorts itself out.

... okay, rebooted. no prblems, it seems. phew! Sister is having a surprise party for a friend of hers, who's going to Australia soon. While I get on okay with my sister's friends, they always make me feel too, well, 'uncool', to be around them. Normally, I have no problem with this. I'm a geek. UI'm going to get a great job and be so much richer than the lot of them when i'm older ^_^ But around them, i just feel judged. So i may spend most of hte evening building websites, except, then I feel even more nerdy and judged, so i might have to mingle. i might make a point of disappearing part way through, or something like that. See if ic an talk mum nad Harry into going to hte pub tonight and taking me, even though I hate going to the pub with them because I know none of their friends but they all know me and I'm just a daughter-pet.

Been told to listen to music. Nice music. Irish folky music. ^_^ Ah well.

And it's 30,000 years overdue for it's next eruption.

Heh, saw a programme on that - it was something like the three previous eruptions had been 8 million years apart, 8 million years apart, and 6 million years apart (or something along the same ratio) and they're panicking because we're slightly over the 6 million mark. From the looks of that, we've got about another 2 million years to go. :D

not quite. it's roughly every 600,000 years, and it's been 630,000 years since the last one. Last one almost wiped out the human race.

When i was younger, I got paranoid the sun would go out during my life time and we'd all go extinct. I know now that won't happen. So I get to worryabout Yellowstone exploding and almost everyone going extinct except a lucky few. Though chances are Brtain would be swamped by a tidal wave, so its not so bad.

Heh. Only out by x1000. But I definitely do remember that there were two eruptions 800,000 years apart and one 600,000 years apart. So it really is more likely that it won't erupt until we're no more than dust.

And if it erupts, we'll be dust anyway. Neat, huh? I think you may be thinking of Vesuvius, which is well overdue for a major eruption too. And Tokyo's 80years late for a major earthquake...

There's a reason I shouldn't read books about how unstable the Earth is. ^_^

Will you get this through your head? I. Am. Talking. About. Yellowstone. Park. Back in Year 11 I watched a programme on it when everyone else had an exam and I didn't and was stuck in a Geography classroom with Mr Ewing, which would drive anyone insane at the best of times but Greg was in there too. Needless to say, I remember that time very well, and the content of the video well because it interested me. They're panicking over something which isn't due to erupt for another 200,000 years.

And who cares? We're all gonna die anyway, at least this way might make it quick. ^_^
