18/1/09 05:39 pmTony Hart has died :(
I knew he was very elderly, though I wasn't aware of the extent of his recent health problems. In his retirement he lived not far from where I grew up, and all the local schools have pictures drawn by him for school fetes.
I wonder what the BBC will do with Morph and Chas now; will they continue to appear on art shows (if they still do - it's been a long while since I saw one) or be retired out of respect?

Date: 18/1/09 05:51 pm (UTC)Well, I'm sorry to hear that he was gone. That was awonderful piece of children's television. A true piece of our culture, and his gentle, but enthusiastic manner was very much a part of that.

Date: 18/1/09 11:27 pm (UTC)There was a Blue Peter bit, years ago, about the Morph animations. With the lights and everything, they usually went through multiple models to get through a single animation (after ten shots the BP presenter made managed to double the length of Morph's arm). I suspect they've got the capacity to make more, but if a lot of their supplies and sets and so on went up in the Aardman blaze then they may have decided it's not worth it.
