I am still refusing to think of that movie (or the book) as The Golden Compass. And I hope their CGI gets tided up a lot more before it's actually released.

OKly, so "golden compass" ties with "subtle knife" and "amber spyglass", but it's not a compass it's an aithiometer [spelt differently] and that's not the main thing in it. The important thing is the northern lights.

I've always hated it when they change book titles between continents. GC does fit withthe other DM titles, unlike the Sorceror's Stone (because it's not liked it was named after a famous mythological alchemical item, or anything, as opposed to being completely made up), but it's still irritating.
