Wow. I seem to be the only person ever to get a brand new Dell Inspiron 1150 and actually have it work. The fan did run constantly, and loudly, but it never actually shut down on me or have any parts some working. Maybe taking the keyboard off was a good thing! The highest price I've found one being sold for at the mo is £280. I guess for a three year old laptop (that apparently wasn't very good to start with) that's the best I'll get.

I may laso have just discovered a good compromise between cheapness of online and the ease of getting it repaired if bought in a shop: Curry's refurb site.

Amilo Pro V3505, Intel Core Duo 2, 120GB, 1024 MB RAM, DVD-RW, 2.75kg, XP Professional... £429.99

That laptop's very well spec'd for the price - a T5500 Core 2 Duo, 1GB of RAM, DVD-RW is great for £430. The only downside is its lack of a proper graphics card. Onboard graphics mean it will do very little in the way of 3D stuff; for Office and Adobe Design Standard, that's not a problem, but if you want any games, it'll probably not work. (That said, it's a laptop, it's probably not going to do that anyway!)

If you can put up with that: it's excellent, go for it. Make sure you untick that added software box though.
