What do people think of me pairing up this post with what I read out at writer's on Monday? It hadn't even occurred to me that I'd actually made a post about it. I remembered it a little differently, but I think that's a good thing.

I think they'll work well together, but I don't know what the English Department are looking for in creative submissions.

"This may include a critical essay of 5000 words or poetry, fiction, journalism, a film or video piece." They'll also go and watch a play if you tell them about it beforehand, accept a piece of music (provided you've written lyrics for it) and generally pretty much anything else you can justify as 'English' related. I think I'm fairly alright for form, but it's very hard to tell what exactly will get you good marks.

I'd reckon something cohesive, with Themes, and Symbolism, and of an interesting and evocative style. From what I've seen/heard so far, you're doing pretty well on these points, though hard to judge a work in progress. I never submitted anything 'cause I didn't know what they'd make of the things I've written that I think are edging towards literature. Think you're really brave/cool for doing this. :-D

Not so much brave/cool as "oh shit, what can i do about that 45?" Only, it won't replace a mark (as was originally implied), but instead just counts as another module to be averaged out. And if it's less than 45, it won't go in.
