Frustrations:

1 - someone has checked both of the books for this morning's seminar out of key texts. Luckily, there was another copy of one of them elsewhere in the library. The other one, though, I haven't fond. And, of course, the person didn't return them on time. I came on campus early to get it, but at least managed o beat hte rush on library books over the holidays. Not that I've got enough space in my bag for those I got out.

2 - I purchased something from TSUK, but the seller sent me the wrong item. I've left a comment to that affect, asking for an address to reutrn it to, but no reply yet. It's only been two days, so I'll be patient.

3 - I'm less keen to be patient on this one, though. I emailed my tutor from last term about my essay 6 days ago. Still no reply. If she's not allowed to offer assitance any more, couldn't she at least email to tell me that? The department has given no concrete ruling on whether we are allowed to contat tutors about essays after the end of this week. Some tutors have said they can't be contacted, but at least in some cases it's because they'll be away from the uni.

Luckily, my supervisor is a renaissance bod, so I'm dragging all my essay stuff to her tomorrow for advise.

4 - I've left my bottle of water a home again, and I'm thirsty. ::pouts::

I think that your tutor may well have read the email and forgotten about it (I did that once, it was highly embarrasing). Might be a good idea to go visit her in her office, particularly seeing as you asked for help well within the period in which you're allowed help, and she couldn't be arsed to get back to you in a timely fashion.

Having read your post and 's post about essays, I am so glad I never chose the combined English HoA degree I was planning on! They seem worse than the History department in terms of actually giving a shit about their students.

If you're allowed to give end of term feedback, you should be scathing. Let them know how disappointed you are and perhaps things will change.

The old code is working again for VGCR. You could sneak into the kitchen and grab some water!

I've been told the official guidelines are that tutors are allowed to help with technical problems, ie advising on bibliographies and maybe how to access reference material, but they can't do anything for actual essay content outside of the term they teach you in.

Wish that had been made clear earlier. Not that I could have done a huge amount then - my latin classes clashed with all of her open hours, so that was a load of help. Still, i've asked her for advice on secondary criticism, and that should (hopefully) come under 'accessing reference material', right?
