Even when I stay at home, I miss the beginning of Torchwood. It has the older sister from The Queen's Nose in it, which is cool, because I've not seen her since that show. She still has the same haircut.

Also, thus far I've entirely failed to get any mag stff done. I've been rereading Queen of Wands, which is brilliant, but also getting a bit close to the bone sometimes. But Zot the kitten is adorable.

So what do you think of Torchwood? I'm still not too happy about it, even if it has its ups.

It seems to me like they've spent all of the money on the camerawork, and none on the writing. Few english shows can pull off that sort of glossy editting anyway (Spooks and Hustle do), and setting it in Cardiff isn't helping. Plus, they're so wrapped up in being an adult show it seems like they're determined to get their sex quota filled each week regardless of whether it' got anything to do with the plot or characters.

It's not bad, per se, but it's definitely not good. It's hard to engage with any of the characters, and the plots are a bit dull. It could be so much better, and I'm hoping they'll stumble across a good writer at some point, maybe get the guy who wrote Empty Child and its partner (Jack's first appearances) in to give it some interest and make Jack a little more like the character everyone fell in love with.
