I suspect I may have got carried away talking about girls in comics last night (I seem to be doing that mroe often recently, and I don't know why). Still, promised links:

Girls Read comics (and they're pissed - one of my favourite columns there. It's a rant column, so not everyone agrees with everything.

Scroll down on GRC until you see the Supergirl/Nightwing cover image, then compare it with this one. I've never liked the new Supergirl design, but the reversal really makes it obvious how ludicrous it is. Plus, the fact she has an actual facial expression in the mock up makes such a huge difference.

I Have A Date with Bruce Wayne - the Frank Miller issue, with a couple of script extracts. This has more of the script, including such beauties as "Detail her bra. It'll drive them crazy, Jim" and "I'm Shameless. let's go for an ass shot. Panties detailed... We can't take our eyes off her. Especially since she has one fine ass." Also, his treatment of Robin which is just creepy (scans in no particular order, I'm afraid). And the Black Canary stuff, which is seems I misremembered, but it's still deeply offensive. It's not misogyny that bothers her, it's "a single, solitary man". And the variant cover is creepy as all hell.

So, on a nicer note, Project Rooftop, where superhero costumes are redesigned and look damn cool.

Ah, porn face - Greg Land Traces. This is not in doubt. Unfortunately, he doesn't always trace the same woman. Oops. here's several more examples (the last one amused me, because there's a photo in the comments that shows exactly where the orc was traced from). Shortpacked satire.

Do you know what I'm going to do today? I'm going to go out and buy some comics. While there's a list of writers and artists I do prefer to avoid, I still like comics. Besides, they give me something to rant about.

Do you have any Batman comics I might be able to borrow? Dark and creepy or bizarre and silly, I don't mind. I found the 1966 film recently and remembered how much I enjoy Batman, but I didn't read the comics much. I figured you were the person to ask.

I've got one or two random ones, and a reprint of one of the sixties ones (It's great! Batman and Robin teach university courses!) if you want. Don't know how much sense they'll make without the surrounding storylines, but I can dig them out for you.
