minervasoloSo blah. I've spent the morning rereading Grayling. The early art looks so strange now, and it's weird how quickly it settls into the more recognisable style. I'd forgotten so much of the plot. Part of me was thinking "Elemental of death as the good guy, interesting", but on rereading. There are no good guys. And it's cool, because you like them anyway despite the heinous crimes they're willing to commit for their own planet. Cal's sweet, May's practical, and while it's easy to think of Lem as ruthless he's not, really. He's giving his life for his creations, most of whom don't care about him any more.
It's also not taking nearly so long as I'd expected, but, of course, arcs 1, 2 and 3 are much shorter compared with the current ones. At least it's helping me get my baring in terms of timeline now. I'd forgotten too much of teh beginning to really understand what was going on.
But I have stopped myself now, because if I start arc 4 that's me gone for the rest of the afternoon, and I still have stuff to do. Better to read Rebecca instead.
