27/4/06 02:03 pmIt's been a while since I've gone on a linkspree, so here we go:
Useful Writing links
(Particularly if, like me, you write fantasy)
Behind The Name - A list of names from all over the world, including meanings. Variety of ways to sort them as well
Encyclopedia Mythica - World mythologies
Fashion Era - Okay, so this one might seem a little odd, but it's been a godsave when I couldn't remember the names for certain garments, or wanted to picture what type of corset the women in The Woman In White might wear.
Feral Children - I haven't actually used this for writing yet, but it's a very interesting site
A bunch of links - all related to herbal medicines and injuries. Good for when you want a nice plague to come to town.
Limyaeel's essays - The links above come from a comment to one of these. I don't agree with everything
limyaeel states, but a lot of it is good common sense, and there's often some very good points made in the comments, by people who actually ride horses, or build dry stone walls, or fence, etc.
Neil Gaiman - his advice on how to find agents and get published. Basically, a giant linkspree. I particularly like the "Making Light" blog entries.
Medieval History - People, places, clothes, weapons... I think I found this when I was doing Medieval literature
Speech Accent Achive - Useful. And kinda fun ^_^
Welsh/English dictionary - it's very basic, but good for making up place names.
The Victorian Dictionary - Lots of Victorian info. I've got no clue where I found this, or why, since I'd entirely forgotten I'd favourited it.
Forms of Address in the UK - The differences between Knights, Dukes, Earls, Barons, Baronets etc
Even if you're not writing, I think a lot of those links are good ways to waste some time.
