20/4/06 10:53 amI think I'm afraid of dinosaurs. Having finished reading Jurassic Park now, I've been having Jurassic Park dreams (this is the first I've remembered, but there's a strong enough sense of familiarity to suggest I simply forgot the rest). It was one of those dreams where you have control over yourself, mostly, but not so much over everything else.
First we went to the Island, I remember that. It was a school trip, but there were also the English and Russian armies there. There was drawings of dinosaurs, a tour, and some crawling through frozen pipes. The archeologist from the first movie was there.
Then it got more schoolish, and I got given a prize (head girl, I think) for scoring a couple of goals in a football game. Oh, it was raining.
Then we went back into the school. Jump to "oh noes, the dinosaurs ahve escpaed!" We were in the cafeteria. I felt kinda responsible for the others, since I was still headgirl. A coach pulled up outside, and the rest of the school joined us. It was raining hard, and looking through hte windows we could see five twisters/waterspouts out at sea. At this point, it occurred to me that East and West as described be the people who ran the island were the wrong way around, which was one of the problems overlooked when building the resort. The other was that the native wildlife was often unique, which related to the dinosaurs escaping.
I was on a rather bare hillside, picking up birds and looking at their bottoms to determine gender, proving the whole "some of the dinosaurs have switch gender" thing. This might have been a memory, or something, because I was still in the cafeteria.
I decided I wanted to go to the loo, so aftr declaring that we should go in groups, I seemed to wander off on my own outside. I walked halfway up the front garden of the welcoming lodge before noticing the little dinosaurs that had been allowed to roam free around there, and remembering why I shouldn't be outside. I think I forgot to shut the gate. I wanderd around our building, and decided none of the other buildings (a bit like eurodisney, they had all sorts of different hotel lodges in the styles of different period houses) ought to be entered either.
There was some wandering around our building, but nothing really came of it.
Then I was with Toast, and we discovered a computer room. Old fashioned menu systems (based on the ones I remember from the book). I tried to turn the security systems back on, and succeeded in bringing down a metal gate over the front door and produing an image of the building which showed that I'd locked a dinosaur inside. It was a raptor (well, a Jurassic park raptor - Dyonisus?), and it stalked past the glass windows of the room we were in. I curled up under teh desk and stayed very still, hoping Toast was doing the same.
Then I decided to wake up, because I didn't want to get any more scared. I was still fairly tense for a while.
I remember, the first time I played TombRaider one, the dinosaur bit in that got me very tense and worked up. I don't remember any dreams (I don't think i had any specific dreams), but I remember finding it hard to sleep/get back to sleep.
