Note to self: 'Wollstonecraft would be having fits' is not suitable phrasing for an essay.

But oh how I wish it was. I also wish I could think of a more essay-ish way of putting it. I've got into the feminist theory part of the essay now, having written a hundred words this morning, played cards for three hours, had lunch, messed about online, and now gone back to it out of guilt. I was worrying earlier about not reaching the word count, but now it looks like once again I'll go over. The focus has become much sharper than I intended as well, since there's just no space to discuss all of the character parallels.

Anyway, tis almost done. Sort of.

Here's a curious thing: I've been a Star Wars fan for a long time. I'm probably a far more devoted fan than most people on my FList (excluding certain notables ^_^ ). And yet, some how, this whole film thing? Haven't got there yet. May not get there at all. And I'm still more excited about the new book later in the year.

So, Wednesday, anyone? Seeing as that seems to be the nearest available oppurtunity (tonight - writers, saturday - dougsoc eurovision things, sunday - essay/anime, monday - essay/ writers soc, tuesday - Toast). I don't know if there'll be anyone left at that point who hasn't seen it, or who wouldn't be adverse to seeing it again, perhaps.

In the mean time, keep refreshing lj in the hope of more stuff to read essay.

*Carries out gesture most representative of sympathy with apathy for new Star Wars flick*

I'll be running juggling but then I can wait 'til it comes out on DVD...or just not see it.

Anybody for Team America on Friday. They're predicting a double sell out so I thought I'd get tickets early.

cinematic goodness ^_^ And for those of us who grew up with Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet and Stingray, the defilement of many childhood memories!

... And if we're lucky, I won't be saying the same thing about Star Wars.

Mike sent me a list of times. 6:10 sound all right? I figure we don't want a really late showing, since we'll get out just as the pubs close, but it always feels more right to go to the cinema in the evening.

Yes 6:10 sounds cool. And then you can both laugh at my complete ignorance of all things star wars related since this film apparently links back to some of the older ones which I haven't seen. But I will have drinks, so I wont care :P mwhahahaha

How much of Star Wars have you seen? If younever saw the original trilogy you're going to be gasping at plot twists everyone else knew was coming.

I see what you mean. I'm sure I shall be re-educated star wars wise at some point anyway. I could also possibly borrow the original trilogy beforehand from this dude that lives in the house next door and is a huge star wars buff. Then I shall come prepared.

the original series are by far superior to the prequels, at least so far. They probably are worth borrowing first, though if you intend to watch them back to back you're looking at about 8 hours of tv.

Personally, I will always find the prequels lacking, just because they don't have a certain young Harrison Ford in them ^_^

Indeed, forgot about the young Harrison Ford *shock horror* whats wrong with me? lol
Now they must certainly be watched. You're all welcome to join me in this marathon once I procure them.

I'm very very tempted. Depends, obviously, on when and where and how much of the essay I've got done. (though if it's the original original trilogy - your Star Warsy friend will know what I mean by that, hopefully - I will come regardless of everything, jsut to see Han shoot first).
