Running through the next chapter of Greenhelm to print for writerssoc tonight and doing some mad editting. I find finding lines like: Silky cold hands squeezed his heart and dripped black water into it, cold is ice and twice as deadly. There are some things lines like that would work in. A dramatic chapter in Greenhelm isn't one of them. It doesn't even actually hint what the feelings involved are. Once I actually complete this draft of the first book (it's draft 2, if anyone's interested, though it's so far removed from draft 1 it might as well be a different novel) I'm going to have a lot of editting to do.

Actually feeling quite pleased with what I wrote today, though. Deleted large chunks from yesterday and put in two very important scenes. Both really deserve their own chapters, but I can't stretch either out that long without it being obviously padded. The irony is, though, that I've actually gone backwards in terms of plot.

Looks like I've gone backwards in terms of wordcount, too. Heh. But I better plesed with this bit.

BTW, if people find all this Greenhelm babble annoying, I could friendsfilter it. I need to do a filter survey at some point soon, but I don't have tickybox capabilities (i.e. this isn't a paid account).

Nope, don't find it annoying. Just in awe of your total stamina.

Stamina is one word for it... Laziness is another. If I wanted to, I could write a chapter a week and be done with this by midsummer. I just... can't be arsed. I know that I'll finish it, and the two two in the trilogy, and the second trilogy, and maybe some stand alones or a third trilogy...

Well, I intend to write it all, one day, because I've had it in my head so long it wouldn't be fair to me or the characters not to. It was the first thing I ever decided I would actually write as a novel. There's only one other world in my head (vampire Anne Rice/Buffy type things) that's achieved that status, for much the same reasons. Most of my ideas just live as ideas, with me knowing that I'll never write them unless I actually finish all of the Greenhelm books and the vampire series, which is probably never going to happen.

Perhaps, this summer, I'll get my head down and really start writing like I have been recently. For now it's just a way of going into denial over the need to start working on essays!

You're still better than me, even my fan writing is sporadic at the moment. I have plans for really big epics, they just need a good kick.

Fanwriting has stuttered to a halt for me at the moment, which is unfortunate since I'm in the middle of a series. Greenhelm does that, and then fanwriting will do it to Greenhelm. Even fandoms circle and replace each other. I guess I just need to focus on one set of characters at a time.
