Ever get a phrase stuck in your head so that it keeps going round and rond until you do something with it? Happens to me alarmingly often, so here's what I did with one of those lines:


Suppositions

"So, suppose we were-"
"Were what?"
"Were lovers. And suppose we did-"
"Did what?"
"Did what lovers do."

"And..."
"And what?"
"Suppose we were lovers, and did what lovers do..."
"Do you suppose we'd be happy?"
"I don't see why not."

"Then what?"
"Suppose there isn't a then."
"So... what?"
"Suppose that's all there is."
"And we're happy, like as not."

"So do you think we could be-"
"Be what?"
"Be lovers. Do you think we could do-"
"Do what?"
"Do what lovers do?"

"I suppose so. Yes, why not?"
