As my mantra for earlier in the year was "You are only 18. 18 is not old" so a new one ought to be "a week is not a long time". Because it isn't, even if it might feel like it, and as usual I'm expecting myself to have accomplished things before I even knew they were there to be accomplished. Relax. Mellow. It's been a good week. May there be many more like it.

PLans for today are yet more reading, actually remember to go to the Magazine meeting, and writing to my gran. The Amazon stuff arrived yesterday, so much time was spent watching that, but another package also arrived from my gran, which was unexpected. Late Christmas presents, she says. My present to her was very late, since I forgot to give it to her over Christmas and mum only posted it recently. Seeing as she sent me two pens and a set of notecards, I think she might possibly just be hinting that I ought to write. Since she also sent my £20 and some jewellery, I think I ought to as well. It's mostly cheap catalogue jewellery, but there's a pair of (fake) pearl earrings in there, and I've wanted a pair for a while. I can no longer remember what I wanted them to wear with, but oh well.

Also got the Authority: Fractured Worlds tpb from Amazon. From what I hear, I'm in the minority for preferring Godhead to Fractured Worlds. Too much of ickle Jenny in Fractured Worlds. It's like the small child at the beginning of Vilette (which is what I'm meant to be reading) - it's an adult that does all the talking and speaking, and just the body of a child. It may be hard to write children, especially if you don't have any of your own, but I just find it deeply irritating that Jenny is so prepossessed and intelligent for a three year old. And they use her origins as an excuse, as the twenty-first century is apparently faster and needs her sooner. For god's sake, is it so hard to throw in a few tantrums? She's already had one of the most warped upbringings ever - use it as an excuse to make her a real problem child. That would be perfectly symptomatic of the 21st C.

ETA: Updated Greenhelm. I've been half tempted recently to take it down from Skyehawke and move it to a Flocked journal, since apparantly that's the equivalent of reading it at writer's soc and not as frowned upon by publishers compared with posting hefty chunks on online archives (even if they are invite only and apparently browsed by prospective publishers occasionally). Any thoughts?
