31/10/04 01:00 pmI need one more short myth to fill out my handout. So far I have a bit of the Aenied (which might also be spelt Aeneid, though there are enough links to both versions that I'm sticking with in the one in my GCSE book) in latin nad translation, a bit of Beowulf and an Icelandic myth. Mostly talking about Beowulf, since that's what we're studyding, but throwing in a lot about how myth changes and belief in myths. I also need to end with something that starts a discussion. I have until Tuesday, but I'm busy for the rest of today and for at least half of monday, so struggling a bit here. It's ideas I need really. One more culture I can tie in, either another Old English myth or another Scandinavian/Norse myth, preferably non-Christianised. Since I don't know any, i don't know what to search for.
There are so many translations of Beoqulf online the mind boggles. Looking for background information and all I got was translation after translation after translation. And a nifty picture of the first page of the manuscript, because I want my hand out to be pretty ^_^

Date: 2/11/04 05:24 pm (UTC)There are so many pretty Loki-pics out there...
As for what myths, you can do the worn-out classics, Baldur's death or Thor's Wedding, or you can be a bit more original than my teachers at school. -.- Any particular kind of myth you need?

Date: 3/11/04 02:33 am (UTC)I've actually got to do some reading arouond a specific aspect of Beowulf today, so myths are still good! Gods and dragons and ogre/troll things and heroes that are described in the same way as monsters.
