27/9/04 08:23 pmThis is roughly my sixth update in about half an hour. To be fair, four of those updates were to commmunities, though three were exactly the same.
Anyway, non fic related stuff! I shopped on Sunday, after work, and now have Snoopy pyjamas (so cute!) and green underwear, because I never knew I wanted green underwear until I saw it. Anyway, I really have no more excuses for shopping. Ever.
Had an oddly boring yet busy day today. Done all those household chore that I always end up doing, because everyone else is at work or college. They complain they end up doing all the chores, but no. So definitely me. I even made dinner tonight, which was, quite frankly, them taking their lives into their hands. Pork stirfry. Crunchy, but I like it crunchy and I made it. Had great fun since I only decided to make it about half an hour before hand, and teh pork was in hte freezer. Our microwave's not working, and it was frozen so solid I couldn't get it out of the packet. Shoved it in the oven in the end, for aobut half an hour. Still frozen in the middle. Same thing happened when i made grilled chicken sarnies. See, I'm doing all this 'practise' cooking for uni, and so far opinions are: Creme Fraiche goes with everything, eggy bread is like warm rubber, ingredients can be altered into unrecognisability but you can still give the dish the same name at the end, and the student cookbook assumes everyone's a chilli fiend.
Anyway, I'm cooking, and I'm not killing anyone. Nor setting anything on fire, though the eggy bread did generate an alarming amount of smoke.
Not working much right now, only Thursday evening, but I'm trying to attack all this bank stuff. While mum's been nagging me for several weeks, she only mentioned on Saturday, I think, that banks take several weeks to send you all the gear. I did not know that, you see, which is why I haven't been doing anything. I pointed this out today, after meeting with Natwest, and she was rather surprised. The only dealings I've had with banks in the past is a Lloyd's under 19s account, which opened immediately. Bought the concise OED and a biography of the English Language, but I can't find anything else on my reading list at the moment. I'll probably order the more particualr things (e.g. hte poetry anthologies) off amazon, but I'll wait until I leave/just before I leave, since I don't know how long it'll take.
I think mum is going to be posting a lot of stuff on to me a few days after I start Uni. Bit of a bugger that. Oh well.
