19/8/04 12:02 pmSophie got into Oxford and Gene into Cambridge. Woo them. I got into York, and am currently trawling through colleges and trying to pick one and find excuses for them to give it to me (so far: self catering - PCOS diet requirements; quiet - PCOS sleep requirements; non-smoking - asthma; internet connection - ?; enquite - ? )
So far, Alucin is looking best. It seems to be group flats rather than the single rooms along a corridor style most places are. Large communal kitchens, possibly communal bathrooms (but I can live with that on this kind of scale) and very nice all round. Halifax is promising, but not quite so spiffy.
Just been rung by one grandparent. I'm going to spend hte rest of the day fielding calls, I know. I guess I'm just not excited by results at all, and I don't understand why other people make a fuss. There's clearing and the option of retaking, if you need to, and if you get what you want, well, great. What's all this fuss with Champagne and 'rewards'?
Heh. People seem to have done well overall, so congrats to them. Sympathies to those who didn't, and reminder that it's always worth bugging the universities anyway, because you know most people won't and they may well still have vacancies.
