Mostly asking why? It had good ratings. It had a probability of increasing ratings, since Buffy had finished and fans were likely to move over.
There is a scheme to get all SciFi, fantasy, and anything other than dull cheesy sitcoms off of American tv, I'm sure. Which means we're stuck with a few British rip offs and schedules full of "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" and sevendaysaweek soaps.
