24/1/04 10:23 amyou know, the more times you see the word 'free' the less like a real word it looks. Oh, the irony ^^
I'm looking for a new host. Free, no ads. Everything else is pretty much a bonus. Listing what I've found so far. Some of them have me raising eyebrows at whether they offer what they say they offer.
.Co.Nr - is just me or does NR imply this is Norwegian? It's actually a freedomain name place, so you don't have to worry about long confusing urls.
United.net - now this looks promising. I'm definitely tempted. Only problem is no adult or illegal material, which rules out fanfiction. I don't know if they're hte sort of site which checks on registered sites or whether it's report only. If it's report, pretty much safe.
free-webspace.biz - this one I'm suspicious about. The site that linked to it said it was ad free, and certainly, their site was ad free, but I can't find hte same promise on the site.
freewebs - Also promising. Sometimes there's a text based banner (I'm trying to work out what their policy, is but I'm struggling), but from what I've been you get to decide where to put it. Oh, and it allows forums, which is unusual. Ah, what, here we go: "All non-premium users are required to have the FreeWebs FreeBar Code on their website...maximum limit of 50 files per account" Is that fifty pages? Because that isn't going to work. Well, not for Fleurs...
And there's the very nice person who offered space on her domains, but I'm not keen on the names right now, so i'll think i'll just stick to the commerical sites. I think I'm going to mix and match and sign up for several of these, and then pick the ones i like.
