For reasons that shall remain unknown for now, I must ask:

Does anyone know how to edit a bit of dialogue off the end of a music track, using the kind of software that comes with Windows XP Media edition or can be downoaded free off of the internet? That I'd be capable of?

I have accidentally wasted several hours. Oh well, my only plans were buying envelopes and doing some washing up.

Shit. I'd forgotten that the whole 'laptop getting nicked' adventure meant that I'm missing chunks of some of my fanfic WiPs. All the completed chapters are online, of course, but it's really frustrating that the 75% finished chapter has completely gone. The worst part is, I'm searching through my files for it, just in case, despite the fact I can remember doing the same thing the first time I realised I'd lost it. Also, this pretty much confirms it's been at least a year since I updated it.

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) will do the trick nicely.

You can use windows movie maker. Import the sound file, trim the end and then save as sound file.

Is there anyway to save it as something other than a .wma file? I'm not being offered any other options.

I thought it was possible to save as mp3. I'm not sure though. I stopped using wmm because it kept crashing my computer.

It's seems to have done the trick with them as .wma's, anyway. I'll have to have another fiddle.

Try downloading Audacity (excellent free audio software), and literally cutting the end of the waveform off in that..
