Spotted this place while I was entirely failing to remember where ultharkitty and rhube live. This sign outside said available summer, but the site says March, which is too soon. Ideally, I don't want to move until May at the earliest, since I'm here til the end of June. It's a shame, becuase it looks pretty good, though ideally I'd have needed someone to live with anyway.

There will be equally good places available for less money - honestly. We're paying £535 between us for what is a bloody fine house. Remember that this isn't prime time for looking. Most people want you to move in relatively quickly, and 'cause it's a University town lots of places will come on the market closer to the summer.

Toast worked out a stack of maths. If I earn 16 grnd I can afford to live on my own somewhere with a rent of about 500 pounds relatively comfortably. If I live with someone else, I only need to be earning 11 grand, which is minimum wage. So assuming I'll be earning a bit over minimum wage, maybe 400 a month?

£400 is a bit steep, it'll eat a huge amount of your income and also really isn't necessary in York.

If you're sharing you should easily be able to get a really nice house for £300.
