buzzylittleb has posted Bananaman. Apparently it was done by the Goodies, which really was about the only thing that could have convinced me the show was even cooler.

Also, The Gay Animal Kingdom. The end of the article makes me want to find out what the changes to Darwin's sexual theory are, to get an idea of whether she really is straw-manning the whole thing.

One of the proposed Darwinian explanations for homosexual behaviour can be found here. It does sound to me like Roughgarden is over-emphasising the social benefits of homosexuality - not to mention drawing an analogy from non-human species to humans, which is always going to be a bit shaky. She may have a point in that the purpose of sex is not merely reproductive in human culture, but from that article she seems to have really hammed it up more than experience with modern culture leads me to believe is warranted. Haven't read the book, though, so I can't truly say either way.
