Not only am I back from the Lake District (as I have been since Tuesday) but I've also caught up on the FList. LD was good. Very wet, in hte best possible way. All the lakes were really high and the streams were gushing, and there were extra special new and shiny lakes and streams ^_^ Alas, since we were camping rather near Coniston, we found everything getting a little boggy, so Toast's parents helped us do a quick run round and find a B&B. Though we were right at the end of the season, there was a Guide Dog thing on, so free rooms were few and far between. We fond a place by Elterwater, just be driving by, that was reasonable cheap and very nice. The landlady was lovely to us. We'll definitely be going back there.

We had dinner one night, which was expensive, and forgot to mention I can't eat fish. Take a wild guess what the main course was... It was funny, because we'd been talking about it and I'd figured we'd be getting a Roast, since it was sunday, and Toast thought it would be pie, since he'd seen her making some. Nope. Salmon. Really good salmon, apparently. Mine quickly found it's way to Toast's plate, and I scoffed the vegetables. Delicious. The pie was for desert, it turned out: she'd picked plums and blackberries that day especially, and made the pastry fresh. Gorgeous.

When we could tear ourselves away from the B&B, we shopped and explored the little towns, since it was still too soggy for much walking. I now have a new backpack, a proper big one, which will be much better for future camping, and also for trips home. I failed to do any useful reading on the trip, but discovered a love for Kakuro and Killer Sudoku. It's nice to exercise the maths skills again. It's not helping me get Paradise Lost read, though, and Milton's really only the tip of the iceberg. Oh well.

So, what's everyone else been up to?

Part of me really wants to get into Legion, part of me really wants to keep the money. That and scans_daily has convinced me I just missed out on the Legion I wanted, just prior to the most recent reboot. Possibly thanks to the Briany/Invisible Kid subtext, and the fact that it was the Legion Bart actually knew.

At this point, I really start hoping I've recognised the names correctly ^_^

I think the question you must ask yourself is: "How good is my local library?"

I just got the most recent LoSH trade from my library, and it had this GREAT Colossal Boy/Ultra Boy bit that's just begging for some slashy ficcage.

The local library has a small selection of comics, mostly Sandman and some old Flash Gordon. There might be a Batman trade in there somewhere. But then, over half the library is non-fiction anyway. While libraries really got me hooked on comics, most can't satisfy me any more, unless I'm looking for curiousities.
