I swam with eels. How cool is that? I've never come across swimming things in the British sea before, not at swimming depth. Falmouth's seas are so clear, it's grogeous. And we actually got a day of sunshine before we left.

I have a list somewhere of all the rockpool creatures we saw, but the highlights are more eels, some quite large fish and two types of starfish. We saw neither the basking nor the mako sharks that were apprenetly haunting the coast. We went to the Eden centre twice (which now has geckoes and anoles, though we didn't see any) and Goonhilly satellite station once. I have light sunburn, and have turned off-white, which is an accomplishment for me. Last night we scrambled around the cliffs a lot, giving my mother vertigo and almostgetting us stuck a few times. I have lots of shiny new clothes (no clue how to get them all up to york), have done pages and pages or writing which I'll probably never be bothered to type up, and had a very good birthday.

And, we also found a hatch in a cave. We have decided that it clearly belonged to smugglers. Very thin smugglers. Who would get flooded out regularly by both the tide and the water pouring down the stormwater drain in which they were hiding, behind the hatch.

Still, it was very cool. Between that and the eels, this may have been the coolest holiday in Cornwall so far.

I shall now be in Surrey until Tuesday, which isn't long at all. Especially when one day is to be spent in London, and at least one will be a family day. Any takers for the BFI library? It's a small room full of magazines that you have to pay to get into. Oh, and I'll be getting lost in Londond before and after, if anyone wants to join me there. For the Surrey type people who may not have seen the other message: 7pm, Star, Thursday. Does that work for people?
