Matrix was kickass. The humour was spot on too, which I didn't expect. And seeing George Dubya Bush on the screens when Neo and - were discussing the 'grotesque' history of mankind made me smirk. The Wachoski rothers also have a real knack for making characters honestly likable and engaging, even if they say almost nothing.

Okay, that's the most spoilery statement you'll get from me. Well, apart from these ones:

To coin a phrase from Red Dwarf, I use the 'French Dictation' method of marking, i.e. I expect perfection and work down. So, here are my gripes with the film.

The CGI. I know it was practically flawless, but you could still tell when they switched from real to fake. I think it's hte smoothness and the lack of pores. No one ever bothers give cgi models pores. The flying I'll get to in a omment, but the fights were a bit disconcerting. One minute it's Keanu, the next it's pixels plastered with Keanu type features. It felt like a very slick computer game, which is ironic, since apparntlythe computer game's really not that slick.

Now, the flying. Again with the cgi. But also the 'get out of jail free' cardness. Neo's on the otherside of the world? Oh, he can fly. Trinity's going to fall to her death? Oh, Neo can fly. His omnipotence got a bit annoying, but that's sort of hte whole point of the character, so i guess I can live with it.

The ending. Sat there, stared at 'to be concluded'. Felt cheated in a good way. The 'other survivor' was a bit obvious, not exactly a twist, but I really hadn't expected it to end there. Sat through the credits (at least the music was better than the Harry Potter ones, though they did list the entire set team, including carpenters and glassiers) and watched the brief advert for the next film. Not entirely certain if it was worth it, but the next one loks equally good.

okay, have to throw out some real praise and ruin my list of gripes: the twins. Loved the twins. Want to see more of the twins. I refuse to believe they died/were deleted. Considering what they can do I doubt blowing them up would actually get rid of them. Also liked the keymaker. He was sweet. But still, the twins ruled.

Currently trying to organise a party/gathering thing tomorrow. Feel I have perhaps left this a bit late, but my sister's already invited a load of friends, so I've got to see who I can round up. I think fJ's still in America. Hm.

Roz has the computer game. Apparently it is that slick.

And I saw the twins first. They're mine, all right? :P

We can't have one each? I mean, that's what twins are for, right?

I heard the computer game could be a bit grainy in places, so that the filmed bits really stood out. though if they used the same technique they did in the film (basically taking millions of photos of each character and building the model pixel by pixel) it out to look amazing.
