Anyone else totally freaked out by the storm last night? I've never seen anything like it. As a kid I always thought lightning and thunder were the coolest things ever (... okay, so I still do) but without rain? Is creepy! The whole sky flashing blue every 10-30 seconds, really hot and muggy and dry, and apparently this storm stretched all hte way to Fleet and beyond. My aunt called to tell us about it, and we had to tell her we'd been watching it.

Was all very apocalyptic. I was so creeped out.

We had a bit, later on. Well, we had a lot, all at once, and then some more normal rain, but for a long time I was just baffled by how hot and not-raining it was. And there was almost no thunder, which was very weird. But yes, a very cool storm, now it's over and I have proof the world didn't end.

Missed it in Bournemouth as well...thought it is incredibly hot digging out here atm - far toom much dust 4 my liking!!! anyhow hows things going, how long you down for? if i can get a day or 2 off then i will and come up and c u but depending how many days i have off with my poorly hand - i ended up in hospital...yes i am a muppet :p

It's but when I was a kid I thought that all thunder storms were rainless, in fact I thought they were sort of mutually exlusive - must have been something to do with Cumbrian weather (they have rain that falls upwards from the ground you know...)

Nope, still in Surrey. By the sounds of it this storm seems to have covered most of this county, hwich is plenty large enough for me. If it had reached York too I'd have been very worried!

It was scary lightning. Proper sheet lightning, too, as far as I could tell. All blue and cloud to cloud. And really very creepy.

So this isn't normal weather? We were kinda worried. Lightning, and no rain. (Of course the rain hit when we were picking up the pizza...)

It's not totally abnormal, but it's certainly unusual, at least for where we are. I've never seen an electrical storm like that before.

I picked up a bucket and wrenched my thumb - nerli broke it. I now have more days off the dig - ive got tonsilitus and have come back home 4 a few days to get some R+R back by sunday though. sorry i didnt see you - u back at xmas?? dunno if i'll be tho. take care and have fun
