'No Poetry' by Gary Jules has got to be one of my favorite songs of all time. Got it on repeat now.

Song I want to get hold of: 'Perfect', by Fairground Attraction; 'Chelsea Morning', 'The Merry-go-round of life'(?) and 'Big Yellow Taxi' by Joni Mitchell, as well as most of the others on her Hits CD; 'American Pie' by Don Mcleod (which I can get hold of at home); 'Scarborough Fair' with lyrics; 'Greensleves' with lyrics; and probably a whole bunch others. I think I need to make a feel-good compilation. If anyone has any of these on their computers and would like to email them to me... Favours for favours.

Realised the other night that one of my New Year's resolutions, which I was constantly breaking at the beginning of January, will not be broken for a long while now. Not quite the solution I was looking for, but it's the whole 'be careful what you wish for' scenario. And is good, really.

At some point soon, I need to pounce on [livejournal.com profile] almighty_frog about these image linking issues. I suspect I've been killing out bandwidth, but I can't remember how much we're allowed, and it's not crashing the site, only a few individual images.

Got photos from Mike of yesterday's exploration of Haffy-lax (Halifax). If people want to see Toast and Olly then pounce. No Mike in photos, alas :( Twas a very good day, with hiking around in the damp and almost getting hit by cars and random singing and a little market square full of eclectic little shops.

Essay writing today. I think this will be a good essay. Got a whack-off huge quote from Dickens to start it off with. May have to cut chunks out of it, because otherwise it's going to take up most of a side. And I don't care what Bowen says about 'problems'. I want to explore and discuss and form conclusions, not be prompted and guided by some GCSE style question I made up for myself. So there neh. ^_^

Still playing with new icons. I now seem to have a set of all marginally depressing icons. I need to learn to let go of my default one, but I really can't. So tempted to buy some time on here, just to upload more.

Use uploadimages.net if you need to link images remotely. It times out after you've been on it for a while, but it's free to use and it means our bandwidth doesn't get involved. Speaking of bandwidth, it also has no limit on it. ^_^

There's such a thing as a recording of Greensleeves with lyrics? O.o I had the vague idea that the lyrics were lost, or something. . . .

Greensleeves

Well, you're all being so abstract, I felt I needed my own day in the sun ^_^ Or my one paragraph, anyway.

I'm partial to the Loreena McKennitt version of Greensleeves. Is that okay with you? ^__^

I don't think I've heard it. I only know the traditional version, and I've only heard it sung once in an assembly at school years ago.

Ahhh. Are you familiar with her work, at all? She sings a lot of traditional music/poetry with an Celtic twist. (... And then there's her booty-shaking version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (http://www.sourho.com/temp/godrestyemerry.mp3/). Heh.)

I went ahead and uploaded it to my webspace because I'm too braindead to open a mail client. Hope that's alright.

thanks! I haven't heard anything by her before, I don't think, but she has an amazing voice. Very powerful. That's a great version of the song. Thank you very much!
