I like writing club. There's a guy called Louis who completely reminds me of Hatty (nuts and blond, basically) and writes Kids stories. "Armitage Shanks and his real live hare/hair" I think. Brilliant. Absolutely. Also many good writers there, and quite a lot of variety (by which I mean, Fantasy, Sci Fi, Cyberpunk, dystopian and pretty much any other name for f&sf). Since I'm in the cinematography soc I won't be able to go on mondays, so I'll be hearing every other chapter of peoples stories. They also have a writing challenge each week, which involves a phrase and a genre, or two phrases. Our phrases were taken from "Bart Simpson Eat my Shorts Shortcake" biscuits, and genres picked from a pile on the table.

Hence, I present to you:

"Yo ho ho and a bottl-"

"Oh shut up! It's a boat, not a damn pirate ship."

"Tis a ship," Patrick grumbled. He's paid to rent a ship.

"Boat."

"Ship."

"Boat! Dinghy, even."

"Tis m'ship," Patrick pouted.

James stood up to prove his point, glowering down at teh salty water surrounding his feet. He turned his gaze to Patrick, who held out the bottle of rum at arms length and cringed backwards.

"A ship," James said firmly, "would have taken longer to sink."

Having settled the point, they both resumed bailing.

It got a few laughs, so I was pleased ^_^ I prefer writing club to sci fi club, I think, because I have more in common with most of the members. Since I don't role play, LARP, play card games etc, I don't really have much to do at Sci Fi club. I joined for books and comics and esoteric movies. And it sounds horrible, but I feel like the least geeky there. I have no problem with having people be interested in these things, but some of them really do use them as substitutes for real life. It is possible to be both a LARPer and a clubber. You don't have to fulfill every nerdy stereotype available.

Or maybe I've just spent too much of my life trying to fit in.

There is also this guy James, who seems to have joined every cub I have. He turns up everywhere. He's also the only guy I've ever met who'll wear uber-goth black leather trenchcoat and huge boots with a hawaiian shirt. He's also weirdly pretty, in a kind of dont notice it at first look, then notice it, then lose it again way. Pretty like a girl, I guess, in a way that looks weird on a guy. And he writes that kind of teenaged angsty 'the populaar kids hate me and are the teachers favourites and my teachers hate me and are so meeeen' kind of fiction. He does it well, no question, but I'm against making characters evil for the sake of it. Apparantly it turns into really dark fantasy later on though, so I'm wondering how that works. He also came across as very sycophantic towards other people, though maybe he really did think it was just that fantastic. He seems alright, really, I'm just a bit creeped out to find him everywhere I go and there is definitely something about him I don't like, though perhaps I just don't like the feeling of not liking someone. I've also just noticed the guy in the fic has the same name, which was completely unintentionally. It's one of my 'stock' names; if I can't be arsed to think of a name of a male character he's usually James, David, John or Jack. Mostly I like Js ^_^

Weird dream last night. The kind of dream which tries to fit in everything I've thought about in the past week and then some. It had buying TV aerials with Harry, setting a bed up in a field so it wouldn't be next to the horse shit or beneath the tree with the dribbly orangoutan in it (who turned out to be the sweetest thing ever and just like a very affectionate toddler), hunting for clear bra straps, meeting Jaime, Rachel dyeing someone's hair, and being a character from one of my books who can transform into a dragon, falling out of the sky and hoping someone else with a dragon will catch him because he can't be arsed to change. There may also have been kittens.

Going to go and buy food today for the first time! Poured sour milk all over my cereal yesterday, and I've been living off pasta for the last couple of days. Definitely shopping time. Might even strech to a shopping list. Oh, and if we go into town first I can return my useless aerial.

Haha, I like that. Funneh.

This James seems kind of odd. Maybe he's a stalker. :O Or maybe he just has a lot of interests in common with you. Either one works.
