15/10/04 04:36 pmmy mousepad is being a complete bitch today. It does this sometimes. At some point I'm buying a proper mouse for this thing.
Went out last night on town bar crawl. Quite fun, espceially since with had Laurence with us, who bought us many many shots. Decided not to go to the club (the name of which I keep forgetting, but apparently is cheese central) and came back at about 11. Figured that I would be boiling in cords and a poloneck, and if it was hte same as last time I'd have to find my own way home, which I was not confident about doing. I would know how to get back now, though, which is good.
Still need to go shopping, still need to do laundry, still need to get away from this damn computer. Current estiamtes are Sunday, though I'm going to have to go nad buy milk before then.
I am absolutely addicted to
limyaael's essays. If you've ever thought about writing fantasy, read them. It's got me all fired up for Greenhelm, but rather than write any more of it I've ended up working on the plot again. This was after realising I'm 40,000 words in and less than a tenth of teh way through the plot I wanted to be through. So i'm reworking the plot of the first book, and trying to come up with some plot for the third. I need a quest purpose. Preerably not a magical item, but still a way of getting rid of the demons. Already tried magic swords and dragons and neither is enough for our protagonists. We're heading towards some magical nuclear warhead here, though my good guys are already in grey terrotory having refused a truce in the belief they could wipe out the demons. Genocide really does run in the Imperial family.
Playing with ideas here, so I can plot them at
plotting. (you have no idea how irritating this mouse is being!). Something that increases magic a great deal. Gods gave humans magic, so perhaps kidnapping/killing a god? Need a god on earth for that, or to kill a demon to open portal to world of gods. Want to keep heros on their own plain of existence, so we'll go for god on earth. Which they heard about from sailors (tying it back to early plot). Thus the god could be on the Ilse of Wight. The Wight's Isle, purportedly populated by ghosts and ghouls and so on. Because of the god. Sailors actually been there, actually know it true, not a silly myth (lots of myths turn out to be true in Greenhelm). So, nice long quest over land to get there. And then finding the god. And then... god obviously not want to help. Lance tries to kill, G stops him.
I think I've got enough now. Rest will follow on in
plotting. And once all that is done, i might make a greenhelm journal and post some chapters so far. It would helplp if I liked my opening hcapter more, though. Way too much exposition. I'll post it, and then I will get feedback, and then I will edit it.
