Since I haven't updated in three years...

We successfully got married. It was lovely, and cold, and I had blue hair, and I was very hungover the next day.

We went to Sweden and Norway for our honeymoon, and I dislocated my elbow in the Arctic. It was the most dislocated the hospital had even seen (that normally deals with mining accidents). Before and after the honeymoon went pretty smoothly: saw the Northern Lights, travelled by boat (hurtigruten), sleeper train, and propeller plane, went to the most Northerly city (Tromso), slept at the ice hotel, ate a huge amount of reindeer, ate the most expensive meal we'll ever eat at Maemo. Subsequently had surgery and physio for my arm, and it still doesn't go straight, three years later.

Still doing Swedish on Duolingo, because it's a nice language, even though the odds of going back there are looking smaller and smaller. I think there's more bits of Norway we'd revisit, just because we moved through them much quicker - Tromso and Bergen, especially.

And last year I had a baby, who is very cute, and is being raised in a pandemic. Which means no baby clubs or meet ups or family visits (she's met my mum and sister, and my in-laws, once each) or travelling, and though j could be there for the bith he was sent home afterwards and it was just me and she for the next 36 hours in hospital, but also means J is at home the whole time because his industry is shut and not hiring and large portions of it are probably not going to be hiring for a very long time to come because they've had to make a lot of people redundant as it is.

It is much much easier raising a baby with two adults at home the whole time. I can have lie ins and don't have to take her into the loo with me and can spend as long as I like taking a shower. Going to be interesting when she starts nursery and finds out there are not only other people in the world, but other babies (we are in an NCT group, so we did meet up with them weekly a bit over the summer, but the last time we saw anyone was October now). At this point, I'm hoping family will be able to visit for her fist birthday. She'll be trying to talk and walk by then, and pushing into being a toddler rather than a baby, so they're missing out on all the babiness, but at least no one can comment on how we're raising her if they're not here to do so. Latest achievements are waving, clapping, sleeping through the night and cutting her first tooth.

I'll be going back to work around Easter, which will be from home, because my employer is not delusional about the state of the pandemic.

As far as I know no one in my immediate family as had corona. One of the NCT mums did, but I think that's the closest person to me I know. One of our friends committed suicide near the beginning of the pandemic. We don't really know much about the circumstances, since we can't see anyone, and there wasn't a funeral. It still feels quite unreal; it'll be interesting the first time we get to see people in person again and he's not there. We've been doing zoom quizes since the autumn, so we're seeing his widow regularly, which helps. We do know several people who've been vaccinated so far, and fingers crossed we'll make it through the pandemic with friends and family getting vaccinated before catching corona.

I'm writing a lot of fanfic again (but nothing original). If you're into Batman - or, more specifically, the many and various Robins - you might enjoy the following:

Detente - a 200k Tim/Dami series. If you don't like the idea of shipping adoptive siblings the first four fics are basically fix-it fic for DC's decision to depict severe sibling bullying as perfectly acceptable behaviour (because DC definitely has mixed ideas about whether you can ship adoptive siblings, and whether the characters even are adoptive siblings half of the time).

People Ruin Beautiful Things - 61k Ras/Tim that's full of orientalism, food porn and architecture porn, and a lot of Arabic poetry, and doesn't present fucking a supervillain as a happily ever after, but it is weirdly healthier than the relationships Tim has with the rest of the Batfam.

There is also an ongoing JayTim and I'm starting another DamiTim that may or may not get finished because it's two simultaneously fics and it's actually quite hard to get much writing done with a baby, it turns out.

I'll update again in three years time, I guess!
