Saint Catherine's school, hidden behind a hedge that gets thinner each year, and a handful of scraggy trees, one of which has an almost horizontal top after a big storm about a decade ago. For someone reason, someone’s coming out of the school, even though it’s Good Friday and they broke up two weeks ago. Between the school and my house runs a road that’s pretty clear this time of day. And over to the right there’s the business park and deserted railway line, and somewhere to the left there’s the A--- which I can hear if I try.
Two: Did you do it without looking out of the window?
yes and no. The window being behind the computer, I don't get a lot of choice, though I did do most of it from memory.
Three: In as close to one hundred words as you can, describe what you would like to see when you look out the window.
Either very little at all, apart from rain against the window, or the kind of view you get in places like the Lake District. I have a deep, abiding love of bad weather, especially if it’s night. Wonderful thing about an old house is the wind down the chimneys and the way the glass shakes just slightly. But when it’s light, yes, that Lake District calendar shot. Village in the corner, bridge just over there and huge purpley hills streaked grey somewhere way back. Rainy, naturally. Right in the front would be a dry-stone wall and a disappearing muddy track.
Four: Describe your first crush without talking about their physical appearance.
His name was Alexandre, and we were eight. When people rang for him, the receptionist would come into class expecting a girl, with a name spelt like that, but he had french relatives. He was friends with Keiran, who was large and both a bully and the bullied. I don't know what Alex's likes and dislikes were, or really anything about him. I was a shallow child.
Five: What would you like to have for breakfast tomorrow?
What i had today, I think. Apple and cheddar, and maybe a bit of ham. It's what I had for lunch, too.
Six: Look straight ahead, over the top of your monitor. What do you think?
Why do we have a chunk of amethyst on top of the monitor? The stone frog I get, in a way, but the lunp of rock is random even for people with a labelled photo of a 'nine-banded armadillo' also gracing the monitor.
Seven: When was the last time you encountered someone you couldn't stop staring at?
I tend to avoid staring. Though if they can't see me, sometimes I do. So it would have to be someone on the bus... a few weeks ago.
Eight: Why couldn't you stop staring at them?
It was an old woman, and I was wondering if peolpe's jaw shrank with age. She had very odd teeth, you see.
Nine: Write down two true things, and one false thing. Of the three, which do you like best?
(I'm going to let people guess which is the false one)
I used to be partially deaf in one ear as a young child and suffered from a speech impedimentas a result
I was offered the GHS academic sixth form scholarship, but turned it down. If I'd stayed, I'd probabvly have had a much higher chance of being accepted for Cambridge.
I have completed a novel length work <--
Ten: Why?
Because it shows I can do it, if I want to... except that was the false one. Though by the time I finished OUAN it might be. I think hte longest I've got on an original piece of work so far is 60,000 words, roughly, which is pretty damn good considering I was thirteen at the time. I just need the time, right now, and the lack of other things to do. Or the motivation. Fanfiction stole that from me, because people review and it's instant gratification. I'm seriosuly thinking of joining one of these profic archives. There's no point worrying about first-publication rights and so on when you can't finish the damn thing you want to publish!
Went for walk. Yay. Pretty day. Yay. Thinking aobut it, I have another short story thing I'll post up here soon. It's too short to actually be a story, it's more a vignette, but I like it. Mildly inspired by a WK pairing, but without names it doesn't really matter. Oh, and I'm going to do some more plotting on the journal soon for one novel/series plan. Gay Vampires! ^_^
