Well, the tone is undeniably Lestat. Not questioning that. But the style? He's using words like 'cool', 'dude' 'duds' (clothes), and 'way heavy', and most questions have at least three question marks, and one far I've seen has five! It sounds like he's escaped from Bill and Ted. He's supposed to be 200 hundred years old, and slept his way through most of the twentieth century anyway. Some of the slang is really very dated.
I've always enjoyed the Vampire Chronicles for the sheer trashy quality. Most of them lack any coherent plot, and there's a definite fanfiction quality to them. It's all very self-indulgent. But now it's getting a bit too much so, and you'd think the author herself would at least get the 'voice' right.
And, lets face it, my favoutie character was dear angsty Louis, who rarely gets a look in these days. i haven't finished Blood Canticle yet, but I doubt he and David Talbot will be putitng in an appearance, despite the fact that, if true to characterisation and histories, they really ought to be involved.
I have to go find a camping stove for trip oot soggy beach now. And pray mum and Harry get back before six, because otherwise I won't be making it on this little outing at all.
