So! University, internet. woo. I hadn't even touched my laaptop until now, and suddenly I'm neglecting dinner.

This post will contain a lot of names, simply because it helps me remember them.

Such a nice room. Quite large, with a long desk, bed sized pinboard, wardrobe with shelving in one side, three drawers anad various other useful things. Ensuite bathroom, where when you shower the curtain moves towards you in defiance of all physics I know. Kitchen didn't have a toaster, bur I rectified that. I spend a lot of time reading a nd drinking tea in the kitchen because (a) it's tidier than my room and (b) it makes me look very sociable. Been introducing myself to everyone who's wanderd in so far, and I'm kinda hoping some of them have forgotten my name, since I've forgotten a few.

Flatmates so far:

kate - reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] almighty_frog, though possibly only in looks and attitude. Essex girl, but not at all the stereotype. Like horses, has a lot of joint problems. good fun. Economics and politics

rachel - from cyprus! My fellow english taker in the apartment. Really sweet and quiet, reminds me of gene.

Nicky - mature student, PPE. Very nice, actually used to looking after herself, unlike the rest of us.

Min - second year, from South Korea. Seen her once.

another girl - second year, from Hong Kong. Also only seen once. English name...

yet another girl - second year, Kenyan. Forgot her name way too quickly. Psychology and Sociology, I think.

the invisible girl - hasn't even come out of her room. Apparantly isn't eating. May not have arrived yet, though there are noises coming from her room occasionally.

So far, I've just been registering vague things. Lots of meetings in the next few days. First night there was something on in our bar, but it's a tiny bar (since, unlike most places on campus, it doesn't have to provide food for all the students) and mostly seemed to be full of second and third years. Kate made a lot of friends, the rest of us got bored and wandered home. Can't re,member what I did on Monday, probably nothing. Last night, though...

We met out STYCs (Second and Third Year Contacts) yesterday, and they took us to a talk by the Provost. Our JCR rep, Laurence, is terrified of public speaking, so got drunk first. this is relevant. After provost meeting, we were given wine and sent out on 'house' bar crawls. Of the six flats in our house, five people decided to go, inc me and Kate. We had four STYCs, so you'd think we''d have been prpetty well catered for. Went to a pub off campus, since we all had free drinks voucher-cup thingies. One of our STYCs (Fran) got alcohol poisoning and went home in an ambulance. E2-block joined us, with Laurence as one of their STYCs. He kept buying everyone wine, which was cool. I got talked to a lot by Debbie (horsy, broken spine) and Helen (very homesick, North Londoner). Eventually left there, but on the way back to campus (vanbrugh bar) we lost another of our STYCs (Will) and a lot of E-block. Decided to go to Icon, local club. Spent the bus ride talking very loudly to Fiona about our various sexuality issues. The joys of being drunk and not caring (and knowing everyone else is too drunk to listen anyway). Debbie almost passed out on the bus, so we lost another STYC in a taxi taking her home. Martha, the final STYC disappeared in the club, as did everyone else. Fair play, youo couldn't have kept track of people at all. Kate, Fiona and I danced in the main bit for a while, and I'm not certain whether Fiona was flirting with me or whether people behind her were kinda forcing her to dance that close. Haven't seen her since, anyway. kate and I went into Diva, which is attached to Ikon and has far superios music. I lost Kate about about half midnight when she danced and I got a drink. Stephen (third year) helped me get it. He's one of those guys that's an amazing dancer, but need several metres space to himself. I was wandering around trying to spot her and not look pathetic, but then the played "Summer of sixty-nine" and I got a leetle bit distracted. They followed it with Queen, so we know I was just gone. It was one AM before I checked my phone and realised kat had been looking for me too. Spent the next hour watching out for her and looking agina, then caught the (free!) bus home. Met mary on the bus home, second year STYC for E3, who worried about Fran and seemed convinced I']'d had a shit evening despite my constant repetitions otherwise. Got invited to a party, where it turns out I'd have run into Kate again, but poted for bed instead. 3am, couldn't sleep, got up at 9 to try and beat some of the queues for registering stuff. Am now rather tired.

Oh, have shiny new posters! ^_^ I've taken pictures of my room, but they need developing and scanning. This will probvably happen in about 18 months time. All well and good so far. Need to sort out timetable stuff and meet my supervisors still, and register at the LFA centre and make an appointment with the doctor to convince him I do need my perscriptions.

My shoulders hurt now. Still kinda sleepy. Don't think i'm going anywhere tonight, though Kate's going down to the bar. Might go, depends. Probably not.

(out til 3AM! Me! clubbing, even, though it really non-clubby clothes because I wasn't expecting to go)
